We spoke with Tania De Palma, Business Development Manager, Prime Super, on securing a scholarship from Women in Super’s NSW Education Initiative.

Supported by Norton Rose Fulbright, the program is designed to provide educational opportunities for professional development, networking and career progression opportunities for members in the superannuation and financial services industry.

Tell us about yourself and your role in Prime Super

I am passionate about building strong relationships, coaching teams and seeking out growth opportunities that help us deliver exceptional outcomes for our members. With more than 27 years in Australia’s financial services industry, I’ve built a career around people. My in-depth experience in client engagement, business development and sales leadership has taught me how important it is to bring out the best in people and support an environment where we can thrive.

For me, working in superannuation is an opportunity to make a meaningful, long‑term difference in people’s lives. Super can often feel complicated, and I’m motivated by the chance to demystify it, to make it simple, accessible, and empowering so our members feel more confident about their financial future.

A big part of my role involves working with employers to help incorporate superannuation into their employee wellbeing programs. When super becomes part of that conversation, people tend to engage earlier and with genuine curiosity and that early engagement can have a powerful impact on their outcomes.

What made you apply for the Women In Super scholarship?

I’m always looking for opportunities where I can continue to grow professionally and make a meaningful, positive impact on those around me.

I decided to participate in Women in Super’s NSW Education Initiative, as it was an opportunity for me to strengthen my skills, broaden my perspective and contribute at a higher level.

Personal development is important to me, not just to strengthen my strategic thinking, but to deepen my understanding of effective leadership. My goal is to use what I learn to make a positive and meaningful impact on the people I work with.

What’s your message to anyone thinking about upskilling?

Continuous learning plays a vital role in professional growth. It can build confidence, broaden your skill set, create valuable networking opportunities, and expose you to the experiences and insights of others, often providing the inspiration needed to take the next step in your career. If you have been thinking about broadening your learning opportunities, new possibilities can be within reach for you. If you’re considering upskilling, I encourage you to explore the possibilities. Investing in yourself is always worthwhile. Growth begins when you commit to investing in yourself.
